Be Unique or Be Invisible

Have you ever wonder why your parents ask you to study hard? Have you ever wonder why you should study math in your class? If you ask your parents or teachers, they might give you the same answer as well. ”You need to get good grades, you need to get into a good college, you need to get a good job, do not make mistake in your life.”

What if I tell you they were wrong? Will you think I’m insane? We can’t blame our parents for becoming what we are today. Instead, we should blame ourselves. Because you chose this path, you chose to become mediocrity, you chose to become invisible. Is it late for you to take a leap? I don’t know. But there’s never too late for you to take the challenge and take a leap in your life. It’s just a matter of whether you want or not. If you go to tell others that you want to make the world a better living place, I can bet they will roll their eyes on you and tell you’re insane, you shouldn’t be dreaming, you should put your head down and listen to your boss or go find stable and safety career, follow your instructions.

We can’t really expect people understand what we’re thinking and expect them to resonate with your ambitions and visions that you’ve shared. Normal people have been indoctrinated for decades to become a machine in a big corporate world. For instances, an IT programmer trying to explain all the coding of HTML or programming software to normal people, they just don’t get it, or they don’t care, as long as the things function normally and appropriately. Or a designer trying to explained how they input the variety of Pantone colors in the logo or how they adjusted the compositions of the poster in order to let the consumer recognize the brand easier. People will tell you the same things, blue will looks like the blue color, yellow will looks like yellow color. They can’t even differentiate what’s the difference between those. (There are even a organizations named COLOURlovers)

People just don’t get it, they didn’t even bother to listen to you.

Every one of us shares a different world of view from different cultures and different background. A businessman might see the business opportunity in the scarcity of demand. A filmmaker might create a film because of the motivational and inspiring quotes or stories. If everyone in this world shares the same view, same foods, same cultures, same music. There will be no more arts, movies, no more music. The world will be boring and colorless. The world is gathering by uniqueness with different ideas and cultures. So, find your target audience, share them your world of view, talk to them, connect with them, show them your arts, show them your vision. The world needs more uniqueness, not mediocrity.
